NFL News has been off the charts during the 2023 off-season. Of course, the biggest headlines of the off-season include Aaron Rodgers being traded to New York, Lamar Jackson staying put in Baltimore, and Tom Brady officially retiring. However, there are many other storylines still playing out this off-season that could significantly impact the 2023 season. There is one move picking up attention that would not only impact the NFL, but greatly impact the NFC North.
Chicago Bears Are Favorites To Land Running Back Dalvin Cook Should He Be Released From The Minnesota Vikings (NFL News)
According to a report by Lou Flavius of Total Pro Sports:
With Dalvin Cook likely to leave the Minnesota Vikings this offseason, a new team has emerged as a favorite in the race for the star running back.
Odds from Bookies.com have the Chicago Bears favored as the player’s next landing spot should he depart Minnesota, with the Vikings still thought to be out ahead in such regard.
With Minnesota +250 with said sportsbook, the Bears are in behind at +500. Following what has been some excellent offseason activity thus far, bringing in a back of Cook’s quality would be huge for Chicago, who are looking to capitalize on their trading their No. 1 overall pick to the Carolina Panthers ahead of this year’s draft.
The Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins are behind them at +650, while the New England Patriots are next up at +750.
It has been long rumored that the Minnesota Vikings were going to move on from Dalvin Cook this off-season. Should Cook hit free agency, the Bears would likely have a lot of competition. The Dallas Cowboys, New York Jets, and Miami Dolphins are all interested in the veteran running back.
Is Dalvin Cook Actually Realistic In Chicago? (NFL News)
The Chicago Bears have more than enough money to offer Cook a lucrative contract. They also run the same wide-zone offense that he had his best season in back in 2020 under Gary Kubiak. Chicago is a team that likes to run the ball and there is no doubt he’d see plenty of lanes with the looming threat of Justin Fields always there. Last but not least, he’d get to stay in the division and have a shot at revenge against Minnesota. From the Bears’ perspective, they would get a play that has a far more well-rounded game than Herbert or Foreman.
