Chicago Bears Draw Interest Of A Pro-Bowl Elite Pass Rusher (Report)

An elite pass rusher is reportedly interested in joining the Chicago Bears before the 2023 season. The Bears know they have a need or two at the defensive end position. They are interested in signing veteran Edge Justin Houston.

But another player many in the Bears fanbase want, Yannick Ngakoue, is looking for a new start this year. According to Chris Emma with The Score, the Ngakoue has an interest in signing with Chicago.

Ngakoue is known for being a fierce pass rusher. He recorded 9.5 sacks for the Indianapolis Colts last season. He made the Pro Bowl in 2017.

Ngakoue would be an improvement for their defensive line on passing downs. The Bears’ current projected starters at defensive end are Trevis Gipson and DeMarcus Walker. However, Ngakoue has one flaw in his defensive game.

He’s known for being a liability in run defense. Ngakoue would need to be subbed in for passing downs. But as bad as the Bears’ current pass rush is predicted to be, Ngakoue would be well worth the frustrations against running plays and money–provided, of course, that the contract is for one season.
