The Green Bay Packers announced Thursday evening they were adding a linebacker to the team after cutting a linebacker following Wednesday’s closed practice.
The Packers waived La’Darius Hamilton Wednesday. With Hamilton’s cut, the Packers had an open roster spot. They chose to fill the position with a linebacker.
The Green Bay Packers claim Arron Mosby
Account to a statement by the Packers, the team claimed former Carolina Panthers linebacker Arron Mosby off waivers. He will wear the number 53 jersey:
“Mosby (6-3, 250), a second-year player out of Fresno State, originally signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He spent his rookie season on the Panthers’ practice squad and active roster, appearing in three games.
In college, Mosby played in 58 games over five seasons with the Bulldogs (2017-21). As a senior, he led the team with 15.5 tackles for a loss, tied for the sixth most in a season in program history. Mosby will wear No. 53 for the Packers.”
Mosby will have a chance to make the Packers roster as a member of the special teams. For the 2022 season, he played two defensive snaps for the Panthers but 33 special teams snaps. According to Pro Football Focus, Mosby earned a 54.1 overall grade for his play last season on special teams.
The Packers have been busy making many roster moves during the start of training camp, and the team has yet to play in a preseason game. We’ll see what Mosby can do for the Packers this month.
