Fans around the NFL can’t wait to see the New York Jets with Aaron Rodgers under center. However, per a new report, it’ll be a while before he gets the starting nod for the Jets this season.
The Jets will be a must-watch team with Rodgers this season. The drama that he brings has caused even Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin to want to tune into their Week 5 contest against the Denver Broncos. HBO‘s “Hard Knocks” made the Jets their featured team this preseason.
Aaron Rodgers won’t be the New York Jets starter Thursday
The Jets’ first game will be Thursday against the Cleveland Browns in the Hall of Fame Game. According to Dov Kleiman, the Jets will have a familiar face get the start: Zach Wilson. The Browns are naming Kellen Mond as their starter for the preseason game.

It’s not terribly surprising the Jets aren’t starting Rodgers Thursday. They don’t need their expensive new quarterback injured in the first week of August–even if he took a massive paycut. Rodgers hasn’t played a preseason game since before the 2018 season.
But the Jets aren’t ruling out Rodgers playing in the preseason.
According to the Jets, Rodgers could play in their final preseason game against the New York Giants on August 26. Rodgers first start won’t likely be until their Week 1 conest against the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football.
Packers fans who are snap counting can wait to hold their breath for another month.
