The Green Bay Packers made room for their latest signing Tuesday by releasing a wide receiver before the first practice of training camp. The Packers signed wide receiver Cody Chrest to the roster Tuesday. He is a former standout for Sam Houston State.

Cotton was placed on the PUP list this weekend. The Packers didn’t wait for Cotton to rehab from his injury.
The injury and subsequent release is an unfortunate setback for Cotton. Per WSH Media files, Cotton had a strong showing during the Packers OTAs this spring and had a chance, if not a long shot, to earn a spot with the team if he had a good training camp showing.
