The Green Bay Packers played the New England Patriots for their second preseason game on Saturday night. While there were plenty of things to like about several players on the team, especially quarterback Jordan Love, the night ended prematurely as both teams and the NFL suspended play following a gruesome injury to Patriots rookie cornerback Isaiah Bolden.

On Monday, Wayne Larrivee, the radio voice of the Packers, joined The Mike Heller Show on 97.3 The Game to discuss Love’s preseason thus far and the decision to suspend play.
Green Bay Packers Radio Voice Wayne Larrivee Discusses Jordan Love and Decision to Suspend Play vs New England Patriots
Host Mike Heller started his interview with Larrivee going over Love’s stats so far this preseason (12 for 18 for 130 yards and two touchdowns), and asked the Packers’ radio voice to discuss Love’s performance:
“I think it pretty much went according to plan. And the beauty of it is that he went against the first string New England defense, and the Belichick machinations that go into a defense, even in the preseason.
“So, I think that was pretty good. It’s been pretty good for the offense in general to have some positives here.”
Later in the interview, Heller asked Larrivee about the decision to suspend play after the injury to Isaiah Bolden:
“Obviously, we all saw last year in the Buffalo-Cincinnati game, but this was kind of scary, and you feared for that young man, hoped everything went well, and we got the best report we could the next day…
“But given the circumstances, given the fact that the two teams had spent two practices going at one another, I think the coaches made the right decision.”
It certainly was the right decision. Numerous Packers players said after the game that they were so emotional about the situation that they could not have continued to play. Malik Heath, in particular, knew Bolden well from working out with him before the 2023 NFL Draft.
Thankfully, Bolden was able to return to Boston with the rest of the team after being released from the hospital.
