The Green Bay Packers official TikTok page is always a great way to keep in touch with what the team is up to, as well as indulge in some lighthearted fun as a break from the pressures of the season. In order to deliver on these fun and casual vibes, the most recent video on the page features Packers players, including Eric Stokes, Bo Melton, Dontayvion Wicks and more, in the locker room rather than on the field. Following a popular TikTok sports trend, the person behind the camera asks the players to sign childhood photographs of themselves:
@packers We’re going to keep these forever and ever #signingchildhoodphotos #autographs #nflfootballtiktok #childhoodmemories ♬ original sound – Green Bay Packers
The players appear playfully embarrassed at being caught off-guard with these old pictures of themselves, with Jayden Reed immediately exclaiming “Oh, hell no!” at the sign of his younger self. Other players, like Luke Musgrave and Sean Rhyan, just smile sheepishly and laugh in response. Despite the bashfulness on display, all of the players happily play along with the trend, signing the pictures with proper autographs.
Fans Respond to the Green Bay Packers Participating in this Popular Sports Trend
Fan responses to the post have been overwhelmingly positive, gaining the video over one hundred and sixty thousand likes and over six hundred comments. Many commenters have moved in to declare which player reaction was their favorite, or to debate about which old picture was the most “nefariously” chosen by the social media team. Others are thanking the page for the “behind the scenes” look at the Packers environment, since the video shows fans a peek at what their locker room looks like compared to other teams.
Something in particular that many fans are pointing out is how playful and humble the Packers players are in response to this trend, especially in response to other teams. One TikTok user describes how other participants in this trend are sometimes less willing to play along:
“Love the enthusiasm! some players want them ripped up”
Once again, the Green Bay Packers demonstrate that they are a team dedicated to sportsmanship and fun! However, a fun video for fans might not be the only positive thing to come from this trend. Another TikTok user describes an idea for how the autographed photos from the past might be put towards further good:
“Please tell me that those pictures get auctioned and the money goes to charity because that would be amazing”
What a great proposal! If the Packers’ social media team doesn’t already have something along these lines in the works, they should definitely consider it. Not only would a few lucky fans be able to posses these one of a kind autographs, but the money made in the process could go towards a good cause. Hopefully the Packers’ social media team has held on to them!
It is always great as a Green Bay Packers fan to see the team interacting with each other in a lower-stakes environment, doing something fun and lighthearted. This type of content becomes even more important in the face of strife in order to keep moral up, both for the fans and the players themselves. Coming off from an upsetting recent loss to the Minnesota Vikings, I can say for myself as a fan that this type of silly trend makes it easier to get through the disappointment because it highlights the players themselves and reminds me of my love for the team. Hopefully participating in the trend had the same sort of positive effect for the players, reconnecting them with their fans in a fun manner even when a game didn’t go their way.
