NFL: The Green Bay Packers will have high expectations for their defense in 2023. The Packers, more so than in recent years, may need to rely on their defense to keep themselves in games. While there is a ton of excitement surrounding Jordan Love and this young but explosive offense, we are unsure how long it will take them to get clicking this season. Today, the Packers got incredible news on the defensive side of the ball.
Green Bay Packers Get Rashan Gary Back At Practice (NFL)

Packers edge rusher Rashan Gary is taking another positive step in his recovery from a torn ACL. Via multiple reporters, head coach Matt LaFleur said in his Tuesday press conference that Gary will participate in 11-on-11 drills on Tuesday.
Gary started training camp on the physically unable to perform list, but came off of it on Aug. 7. He’s been doing work in individual drills, but now he’ll be able to ramp things up by participating with the rest of the defense.
That should give Gary a realistic chance at playing in the season opener against the Bears on Sept. 10.
Gary, 25, tore his ACL in Week Nine of last season. In 56 games with 29 starts, Gary has 22.5 sacks with 23 tackles for loss and 54 quarterback hits. He had 6.0 sacks, seven TFLs, and 12 QB hits in his nine games in 2022.
What Will Rashan Gary Bring Back To The Green Bay Packers Defense?

Rashan Gary was on his way to having one of the best seasons at his position last year before a torn ACL knocked him out for the final two months of the season. He started the season with a sack in each of the first four games for a total of five, and he had six sacks before the injury, well on his way to surpassing his career high of 9.5 set in 2021
Gary has 15.5 sacks over the last two seasons despite only playing in 75% of the teams’ games. Baring health, Gary is on track to be one of the best edge rushers in the entire NFL. A player that a defense could build around. When Packers fans saw Gary was back, they reacted on social media:

Having Rashan Gary back in the mix is almost kind of unfair because the Packers have been generating intense pressure this preseason without their three best front-seven defenders. https://t.co/CWlDu5XrAJ

The fact that it looks like he’ll be ready for week 1 is huge, packers front 7 might be really really good this year https://t.co/oRsUhxeD2p
