The Green Bay Packers defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 36-19 on Friday night in the first preseason game of the year. There were many players who stood out in a positive way, but for one player, it was the first football game he ever played

Kenneth Odumegwu is part of the NFL’s international program. The Nigeria native only started playing American football recently. Learning the linebacker position with Green Bay, he has been practicing with the team ever since they acquired him.
Needless to say, the game meant more to him than it did to anyone else. In his first professional game, Odumegwu played 12 snaps and earned a PFF grade of 51.2. While the grade may be low, it is pretty impressive for one’s first ever football game, and was far from the worst on the team.

Green Bay Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur Gave Kenneth Odumegwu the Game Ball
The Packers are holding a training camp practice today since they already played on Friday. Ahead of practice, LaFleur spoke to the media and answered questions about the win. One reporter asked him about Odumwegu’s performance and what it meant to him and the team. LaFleur responded:
“Yeah, it was pretty cool. Typically we don’t give out game balls post game, but he did get a game ball. I think that was worthy of it.
“I mean, first ever game, and the guys really rallied around him and supported him. He’s top shelf in terms of character.
“He has definitely learned a lot and I think there is still a lot more to learn. But he has been a great addition to our team.”
.No one is expecting Odumegwu to make the 53-man roster. Rather, he is learning as much as he can and will hopefully be a good player for the team in the future.
