NFL: The Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers went their separate ways this off-season after 18 years together. Even though the breakup seemed imminent and somewhat unceremonious, what Rodgers did for the franchise can’t be ignored. Today Mark Murphy commented on Rodgers’ accomplishments and a plan for the hall-of-fame quarterback in the future.
Mark Murphy Comments On When The Green Bay Packers Will Retire Aaron Rodgers’ Number (NFL)
During a speech to Packers shareholders on Monday morning, Packers president Mark Murphy made it clear that the team does intend to retire Rodgers’ jersey number “at the appropriate time:”
“We want to thank him for all he did during his remarkable 18-year career. He will be first-ballot Hall of Famer, and we will bring him back and retire his number at the appropriate time.” “We think it was the right time to move on. We do think that Jordan Love is ready who sat three years behind a Hall of Fame quarterback and learned an awful lot.”
Aaron Rodgers, 39, a four-time NFL MVP, led them to 11 playoff appearances and one Super Bowl championship in 15 years as the starting quarterback. Rodgers also leaves Green Bay as the Packers’ franchise leader in touchdown passes (475), completion percentage (65.3) and passer rating (103.6) and ranks second behind only Favre in passing yards (59,055) and completions (5,001).
Green Bay Packers Fans React To The News:

Now the real question surfaces, when would the appropriate time be? It will likely come after Aaron Rodgers is retired from the NFL and not currently playing for another team.

You don’t know how good you had it at GB Rodgers. In the end you only end up hurting yourself. Packers will thrive if not under Love then someone else.
