The NFL Combine is in full swing. The Green Bay Packers have had many formal meetings with prospects. GM Brian Gutekunst and his team are definitely doing their due diligence. The Packers hold the no. 15 overall pick and there are a lot of ways the team can go. As always, fans are wondering about a first-round wide receiver. One NFL draft prospect thinks the Packers are looking seriously at adding talent to that position.
I asked ex-Ohio St. star Jaxon Smith-Njigba his take away from a formal meeting with the Packers Tuesday at the Combine: “They are definitely looking for a receiver.” pic.twitter.com/H7Oyy4MgD8

NFL Draft Prospect Jaxon Smith-Njigba Meeting Green Bay Packers
Smith-Njigba had his formal meeting with the Packers and had a very clear message about the direction he thought the Packers might go. “They are definitely looking for a receiver,” he said during his NFL Combine interview. Green Bay has a young receiving crop but definitely needs at least one more player at the position. It seems that this year, they are sending the message to prospects that they are very serious about the talent in the draft.

The Irony If A Receiver Is Picked In The First Round
In a season where the Packers might move on from Aaron Rodgers, it would be very ironic if they chose a wide receiver in the first round. Fans and analysts have been clamoring for years for the Packers to invest first-round picks into wide receivers. Despite the talent the Packers have had at the position, people still have been critical of the front office. If this is the year the Packers finally take a receiver in round one, Smith-Njigba would be a great pick.
The Green Bay Packers have lots of options in the first round. They also could pick up extra draft capital if they were to trade Rodgers giving them more flexibility. If the Packers do not pick up a receiver with the 15th overall pick, I have confidence that they will address the position in the later rounds.
