The Green Bay Packers decided to cut ties with one of their rookie tight ends early in training camp. The Packers had several rookie tight ends competing for a spot on the 53-man roster this year.
The Packers took two tight ends, Luke Musgraves and Tucker Kraft, in the draft this year after deciding not to re-sign Robert Tonyan or Marcedes Lewis in free agency. They also added to the position after the draft from the UDFA pool.

The Packers made the moves as they signed former New York Giants tight end Andre Miller and former Packers offensive lineman Cole Schneider.
Miller played tight end with the Jets but came out of college as a wide receiver. The Packers seem to be using him as a wide receiver.
The decision to release McDonald comes over a week after the Packers placed him on the NFI list before the start of training camp.
