Thursday night’s game between the Colts and the Broncos featured a couple of former Wisconsin Badgers. One of these players was former Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson. Wilson made big news this offseason when the Seattle Seahawks traded him to the Broncos. Preseason hype took over and Denver was slated to have a top offense. Through the first four weeks, Wilson and the offense have looked terrible. After a 12-9 OT loss, an NFL analyst went off on Russell Wilson.

Kyle Brandt of Good Morning Football did not hold back in his statement. “When did he turn into Mitch Trubisky?” Brandt said in part of his statement. He goes on to say that Wilson’s personality is not fitting in the locker room. His play has not lived up to the hype of a $245 million contract. The fans are already booing even though they sit at 2-3 and could easily make the playoffs. Despite all of this, Wilson continues to act in a way that isn’t jiving in the locker room. At the postgame press conference he ends with his attempted catchphrase “Broncos Country, Let’s Ride” and people have been ripping him for being out of touch. It makes sense why NFL analyst Kyle Brandt went off on Russell Wilson.
Wilson Needs To Read The Room
Wilson seems to have very little situational awareness. Your team just lost an ugly game to an awful team. You missed a wide open KJ Hamler that would’ve given you the win. Fans are upset with you. Hamler slamming his helmet on the ground is not a great look. This was on national television for everyone to see. What does he do? He goes in front of a mic like everything is fine. When he was in Seattle, the fans and locker room had his back. They had developed him from a rookie to starter. He had delivered a Super Bowl and playoff success. Bad games could be forgiven. The Denver Broncos do not have that history. Wilson needs to adapt his public message for a new situation.
Personally, I would be okay if I never heard “Broncos Country, Let’s Ride” out of Wilson’s mouth ever again. Just let that one go. If his play continues to be like this, I don’t think this will be the last time that an NFL analyst goes off on Russell Wilson this season.
