NFL: Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets believe they are in their Super Bowl widow. After trading for a four-time MVP quarterback, adding many veteran free agents (many of whom were former Packers), and signing running back Dalvin Cook, the team has their sights set on the ultimate prize. Many Jets fans, however, can’t help but think about what the long-term plan will be for this team. What will their future look like in a few years when Rodgers retires and many of the veterans they just brought in move on? Rodgers shed some light on that recently.
Aaron Rodgers Is Ready To Pass The Torch To Zach Wilson When The Time Is Right For The New York Jets

Rodgers has only been with the Jets for a couple of months, but he’s already planning out the long-term future with the franchise. The former Green Bay Packers quarterback is hoping to play a couple of seasons in New York and then pass the torch to someone he has started mentoring:
#Jets QB Aaron Rodgers says he’d like to play “a few good years” and then pass the torch back to Zach Wilson for the next 15+ years.
“It’d be a really special 18-20 year run of great quarterback play.”

Zach Wilson was second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and is just 24 years old. He’s started 22 games in the NFL in his first two seasons. Going into a backup role for this season makes sense. Wilson and Rodgers seemed to have formed a bond pretty quickly in New York.
Zach Wilson was notably part of one of the biggest quarterback controversies in 2022 when he was benched in favor of backup quarterback Mike White, despite earning a 5-2 win-loss record in his first seven games of the year. Wilson would get to come in and play in two more games later in the year, but the struggles at quarterback most likely cost the Jets a playoff spot.
