Two Former Packers find a new team in Week 7
The Green Bay Packers are in good shape at quarterback and the secondary heading into Week 7. The Packers have quarterbacks talented enough to be starters on this team. Their secondary boasts some of the most elite talents in the NFL. Not all teams are that lucky right now. This week, an NFC rival turned to two former Packers to help with the team’s practice squad.
According to a statement by the San Francisco 49ers, the team is adding quarterback Kurt Benkert and cornerback Ka’dar Hollman to their practice squad this week.
The #49ers have signed QB Kurt Benkert and CB Ka’dar Hollman to the team’s practice squad. In order to make room on the practice squad, the team has released LB Buddy Johnson and K Sam Sloman.

We’ll see how they perform with the NFC rival
Benkert has had a few tryouts this season. The Chicago Bears worked out Benkert in September, but the NFC North rival did not sign him. Hollman was cut by the Packers in August. The two former Packers deserve a shot to be in the NFL. Working their way onto the 49ers practice squad is a good start for the two as they fight for a chance to get on the field for the regular season.
It’ll be tough for Packers fans to watch those two if they play for the 49ers. The 49ers-Packers rivalry has been fierce over the previous few seasons. The 49ers have been a team that’s stood in the way of several Packers Super Bowl runs in the last decade. These two teams may play each other in the playoffs this year. Although, it’s probably even less likely these two players will play in that game. But with the way injuries are happening this season, they may make the 53-man roster.
