The NFL offseason just got a whole lot more interesting. Aaron Rodgers was given permission to speak to the New York Jets and he apparently has had conversations with the team. Nothing is official yet but talks seem to be heading in a direction of Rodgers being elsewhere next season. As speculation flies, New York Jets star Sauce Gardner has a message for Aaron Rodgers.
Aye @AaronRodgers12 I promise if you become a Jet, I won’t pick you off in practice & I’ll burn the cheesehead😶 https://t.co/YTVj4H7ZRQ

New York Jets Star Sauce Gardner Makes Aaron Rodgers An Offer
Gardner makes two promises to Rodgers if he joins the New York Jets. The first is that he will never pick him off in practice. Rodgers has a history of not throwing interceptions even at practice so this one doesn’t seem too hard to keep. The other is that he will “burn the cheesehead” which is a reference to last season when Gardner donned the headwear after the Jets’ victory over the Packers. Gardner is clearly wanting Rodgers to be the next quarterback which makes sense. The defense played well last year but the offense sputtered. With Rodgers, the Jets would have a much more complete team.

When Will We Know For Sure?
History tells us that when these types of talks start happening, a deal is usually imminent. Rarely (if ever) do we see teams engage in talks with other teams and then decide to go back to their former team. It seems like all sides are wanting to move on. Neither side is necessarily upset with the other, they are just wanting to move forward. Still, it is Rodgers so we never know exactly what is going to happen. The new NFL year and the start of free agency are in less than a week. Both the Packers and Jets want to know where they stand at the quarterback position before that begins.
Gardner is not the only player to want Rodgers to come to New York. Other players have chimed in as well and I’m sure there will be plenty of good quotes if a trade actually happens. For now, we play the waiting game for news to officially drop.
