The New York Jets have had Aaron Rodgers on the roster for the last two seasons. He was traded from the Green Bay Packers before the 2023 NFL season.

Rodgers missed a majority of the 2023 season with a torn Achilles when he injured himself in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills. This past season, Aaron Rodgers was available for the Jets and they finished with a 5-12 record. It appears as if he may have some gas left in the tank.

New York Jets Will Be Moving On From Aaron Rodgers At Quarterback This Offseason

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers (8) is shown after he led Gang Green to a 32-20 victory against the Miami Dolphins, Sunday January 5, 2025, in East Rutherford.

With New York hiring Aaron Glenn as head coach and also hiring a new general manager, they are going to want to do things their own way. Well on Thursday, the Jets’ Twitter page said:

“We have informed Aaron Rodgers that we will be moving in a different direction at quarterback.”

This is interesting that the Jets will be moving on from him. Rodgers this past season completed 63.0% of his passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He is 41 years old and he might show that he still may have some juice left in his NFL career.

With Aaron Rodgers getting released, many wonder what his next steps will be this offseason. The Jets will also have the seventh overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. New York could be in play to draft a quarterback this offseason.

Poverty franchise – a future hof qb couldn’t even handle playing more than one true season in New York

Jets fans, you are competing with Cleveland as the worst NFL franchise. Best of luck with your next Journeyman QB who will lead you to the 8th pick next season.

Aaron Rodgers Jets career is officially a fart in the wind

Waste of time, giant tease, lots of injuries, lots of losing, lots of tabloid stories all for nothing

Happy the Jets finally grew a pair and kicked Rodgers to the curb

    — Alex B. (@KnicksCentral) February 13, 2025

There are so many questions about what the New York Jets and Aaron Rodgers will do next after the divorce. Rodgers going elsewhere next season or retiring from the NFL is going to be a big story also.
