New York Giants offensive tackle Evan Neal and defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence both missed practice again on Wednesday ahead of Monday night’s matchup against the Green Bay Packers. Neal is not practicing because of an ankle injury and Lawrence is not practicing because of a hamstring injury.
Evan Neal has been struggling to stay on the field all season long and will see if he gets onto the practice field at all this week. It doesn’t look good for him to play on Monday night against the Green Bay Packers even though it is only Wednesday.
It is still surprising that Dexter Lawrence is still dealing with a hamstring injury because he usually doesn’t miss time with injuries for the New York Giants. Head coach Brian Daboll told the media on Wednesday that he hopes Lawrence can practice on Friday for New York.
If Dexter Lawrence is out once again for the Giants on Monday night, rookie Jordon Riley will start in his place for New York. He has only recorded one tackle all season long. The Packers’ interior offensive line would not have to worry about Lawrence wrecking the game and possibly making quarterback Jordan Love uncomfortable.
The New York Giants Have Been Dealing With Injuries All Season Long and the Green Bay Packers Can’t Afford To Lose
For the entire season, the Giants have been dealing with massive injuries. The Packers are also dealing with injuries of their own, but Green Bay has shown over the last few weeks that they are a better football team than New York.
Evan Neal has been a massive disappointment in his second season with the injuries and not performing well on the field. If Dexter Lawrence does play for the Giants on Monday night against the Packers, he will cause some problems throughout the game. Green Bay will need to double-team him to limit the damage he could do.
If Riley starts in his place, there would be no need for double teams up front. Tyre Phillips would start at right tackle for the New York Giants in place of Neal. Rashan Gary and other defensive linemen would be able to get after Tommy DeVito and possibly wreck the game.
