The New York Giants Could Be Without All-Pro On Monday Night Vs. The Green Bay Packers (Breaking)

The Green Bay Packers and New York Giants are preparing for their Monday Night clash in week 14.  The Packers (6-6) suddenly find themselves in control of their own destiny en route to the 2023-24 playoffs.  Win out, and you’re in.  With five games left that isn’t an easy task (no matter who their opponents are), however, it is a very real possibility for the team to make the playoffs regardless.

The Giants (4-8) are attempting to salvage as much as they can from the 2023-24 season after losing their starting quarterback in Daniel Jones.  Monday Night could be an opportunity for the Giants to make a statement to the league that they aren’t dead yet, however, they may have to do so without a significant all-pro.

The New York Giants May Be Without All-Pro Defensive Lineman Dexter Lawrence On Monday Night Vs. The Green Bay Packers

According to Dan Benton of USA Today Sports:

Prior to practice, head coach Brian Daboll officially named Tommy DeVito the starting quarterback for the clash on Monday Night Football.

Meanwhile, despite the team’s extended break, nose tackle Dexter Lawrence and right tackle Evan Neal continue to miss practice.

“He’s getting better,” Daboll said of Lawrence. “I think we’ll have him out here soon — soon might be this week.”

If there was any positive news to be had, it’s that tight end Darren Waller, who is eligible to come off of IR but has not yet had his 21-day window opened, is making progress. However, it remains unlikely he will play in Week 14.

Not Having Lawrence Would Be A Massive Blow To The Giants

Lawrence has had an even better season so far in 2023 than he did in 2022. In 333 pass-rushing snaps, he has racked up 53 total pressures, including five sacks and 11 quarterback hits, and he has made 32 tackles resulting in defensive stops, according to Gordon McGuinness of Pro Football Focus.

According to PFF, Lawrence ranks number one for interior linemen with a grade of 92.8, with strong marks in pass rush (92.5) and run defense (87.5). Last season, he graded 91.6 overall (81.2 against the run, 92.2 against the pass).

With the Packers’ pass blocking continuing to improve each and every week, (they jumped up in the latest PFF power rankings), it will be even harder for the Giants to get pressure on Jordan Love.
