    FEBRUARY 1st, 2023– Today the Advisory committee and Board of Control both met for the WIAA, to discuss many options for the 2023-24 School Year and voted on many different things. I would like to give thanks and credit to the WIAA twitter account for giving updates as to when each measure was approved or failed. Every Twitter post is in the article to what was passed or failed today by the WIAA.

    APPROVED – TENNIS: Start the Team State Tournament matches at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, or the earliest that the venue is available after 3:00 p.m.. (Vote 11-0) 🎾 #wiaatennis

    APPROVED – TENNIS: For team seeding at the state level, add the Coaches Association President or a designated representative to the meeting, to cast a tie breaking vote, if needed. (Vote 11-0) 🎾 #wiaatennis

    APPROVED – OFFICIALS: In volleyball, officials may wear the WIAA-licensed logo on their officials’ uniforms. (Vote 11-0) 🏐 #wiaavb

    APPROVED – OFFICIALS: In volleyball, officials may wear any NFHS approved blue, grey or white officials’ polo. R1/R2 members must have matching uniforms. (Vote 11-0) 🏐 #wiaavb

    APPROVED – OFFICIALS: In soccer, edit season regulations from “The volunteer will not call offsides.” to “The volunteer will not call offsides or fouls.” (Vote 11-0) ⚽️ #wiaasoccer

    APPROVED – FOOTBALL: A mandatory running clock will be implemented when the point differential reaches 35 points in the 2nd quarter of a contest. Conversely, the running clock will stop if in the 3rd quarter the point differential falls below 35 points. (Vote 10-1) 🏈 #wiaafb

    APPROVED – GOLF: In Division 2 of Girls Golf, split into 3 regionals going into each sectional. The top 3 teams and top 3 individuals not members of the advancing teams would advance to sectionals. 🏌️‍♀️ #wiaagolf

    APPROVED: SOCCER – Following 60 minutes of play, if there is a score differential of 8 or more goals, the match shall end. (Vote 11-0) ⚽️ #wiaasoccer

    FAILED: CROSS COUNTRY – Recommendation to double the sectional fees for participating schools, from $25 per gender to $50 per gender entry fee paid to the host school. (Vote 0-11) 🏃‍♂️ #wiaaxc

    *APPROVED: VOLLEYBALL – Add an additional division for girls volleyball (D5) beginning in 2024. 🏐 #wiaavb

    *Due to current membership rules, this proposal must go back to Advisory Council for final approval prior to implementation, since the proposal was amended by the BOC.

    FAILED: VOLLEYBALL – Recommendation that sectional finals would be held at neutral sites, so schools would not be allowed to play at their home site. (Vote 4-7) 🏐 #wiaavb
