NBA rumors: The Los Angeles Lakers recently committed their future to Anthony Davis. This came out to the tune of a $186 million, three-year extension which will make the eight-time All-Star the highest-paid player in the NBA.
The Lakers are well aware of the fact that LeBron James’ championship window is quickly closing, and they’re doing all they can to surround him with as much talent as possible to help him lead LA to another championship. In this respect, would the Lakers be willing to go to extreme measures to land Damian Lillard?
NBA Rumors: Lakers Send Austin Reaves to Blazers for Damian Lillard

Eddie Bitar of Fadeaway World recently listed a multitude of blockbuster trade proposals that could come to fruition if the Miami Heat fail to land Damian Lillard in the immediate future. One of the more sensational scenarios proposed was the Lakers giving up a major haul to add Dame into the mix.
The Blazers are holding out for a better offer for Lillard, which is why the Heat haven’t succeeded in their pursuit of the seven-time All-Star. That offer could come from none other than the Lakers with Bitar proposing a package of D’Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves, and a 2029 first-round pick in exchange for Dame:
“The Los Angeles Lakers have a win-now mentality, and acquiring a superstar like Damian Lillard would instantly elevate their championship aspirations. Lillard’s scoring ability, leadership, and experience in high-pressure situations would complement LeBron James and Anthony Davis, creating a formidable “Big Three” capable of challenging for a title. Lillard’s offensive firepower and clutch performances would alleviate the Lakers’ reliance on LeBron James to carry the scoring load, providing a reliable go-to option,” Bitar wrote.
Losing Russell and Reaves would be an undeniably tough blow for the Lakers, especially after they signed both players to massive extensions this summer. They also have to give up one of their few remaining future first-rounders in order to secure the services of Lillard. Will it be worth it?
NBA Rumors: Heat Still Favorites to Land Damian Lillard

The truth of the matter is that at this point, the Heat are still Dame’s likely landing spot. Miami’s front office has reportedly already tabled a massive offer for the 33-year-old, who himself has indicated his desire to take his talents to South Beach.
However, given the Blazers’ hesitation to take the Heat’s current offer, it remains unclear if Miami is willing to go back to the negotiation table to make an improved bid. Right now, we no longer have any idea how this looming blockbuster trade will play out. Are both sides on the brink of signing on the dotted line or are they still miles apart on their respective estimations? I guess only time will tell.
