The Milwaukee Bucks go into the upcoming season as one of the favorites to win it all. One wild card in the season is new head coach Adrian Griffin. However, he had assembled a great staff around him which provided analysts with more optimism about the situation. That staff has taken a little bit of a hit with today’s news. Assistant coach Terry Stotts has reportedly stepped down days before the season.
Terry Stotts has stepped down as an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Bucks, sources tell ESPN. Stotts returned to coaching after two years away to join Adrian Griffin’s new staff but has decided that he won’t continue in that role.

Milwaukee Bucks Terry Stotts Steps Down
Adrian Wojnarowski dropped the news early this morning on social media. Stotts had spent two years away from coaching after being the head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers. He brought some head coaching experience to the bench and has a proven track record of winning in the NBA. The Damian Lillard trade looked even better with Stotts on the bench as he coached him for much of his career. It is unclear the reason Stotts has decided to step down as there are very few details right now.
How Much Does This Affect The Team?
This is the kind of move that probably doesn’t affect the team that much in the short term. The Bucks will likely be one of the top two seeds in the Eastern Conference and win a lot of games. Where this may be felt is in the playoffs when coaching battles become essential to winning a series. Stotts brings experience as he made it to a Western Conference Finals and numerous other series wins. It is hard to quantify but this is a massive loss for the team.
The Milwaukee Bucks will have to go on without Terry Stotts. While this is shocking days before the season, the team is still primed for a fun 2023-24.
