NBA: MarJon Beauchamp did not exactly take the NBA by storm when in his debut season with the Milwaukee Bucks last season. After being selected as the No. 24 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, Beauchamp averaged 5.1 points and 2.2 rebounds in just 13.5 minutes per contest.
Be that as it may, you can’t really say that the former Yakima Valley Community College standout had a disappointing rookie year. He took the necessary strides in his first season as a pro as he now looks to breakout in his sophomore campaign.
MarJon Beauchamp Wants To ‘Take That Leap’ In Year 2 With Milwaukee Bucks
MarJon Beauchamp has had an impressive NBA Summer League run with the Bucks. He’s looked like a man among boys, which in truth, is to be expected from a player who’s already had a full NBA season under his belt.
According to the 22-year-old, he’s noticed a considerable change in the mental aspect of the game. In his mind, Beauchamp is confident that this is a crucial step in his development as a pro:
“Really just my mental, the way I approach the game,” he said, via Jim Owczarski of the milwaukee journal sentinel. “I feel like just staying calm. That’s what I’ve been working on and not being so hard on myself. Really, I feel great. I’ve been at peace with myself. I just been working on the mental part of the game because I’m very hard on myself, because I’m just trying to be the greatest I can be. I feel like I’ve grown.”
With training camp set to start in a couple of months’ time, Beauchamp already has his sights set on a big year ahead. The 6-foot-6 small forward has put in the hard work, and he’s now ready to reap the benefits of the same:
“Going into camp, I just want to show my abilty where I’ve grown and I read the game better,” he said. “I’m here to take that leap. I am. It starts Day 1 of training camp so I can’t wait.”
MarJon Beauchamp Draws High Praise From Milwaukee Bucks Brass
New head coach Adrian Griffin likes what he sees from his young stud thus far. The first-year shot-caller has had a chance to utilize Beauchamp in the Summer League, and it looks like the young man has done enough to earn some quality minutes in Griffin’s rotation this coming season:
“What I do like from Summer League is him getting to the rim, just kind of him imposing his will,” Griffin said. “I think he has great size, great physicality and he’s been getting to the rim and when you get to the rim good things happen.”
Bucks general manager also gave Beauchamp his vote of confidence. The high-ranking Milwuakee executive had nothing but high praise for MarJon, as Horst talked up Beauchamp’s willingness to make the necessary sacrifices to get his game to the next level:
“We drafted MarJon because we had a high level of belief in the person that he is, the work ethic that he had and the baseline skill set that he had, and I thought last year he took massive steps in his first year as a rookie,” Horst said. “He played meaningful minutes at meaningful times in the regular season and he played well.
“He hasn’t rested on that. He’s had a great offseason. He’s worked on his body, he’s worked on his game.”
Big things are expected from MarJon Beauchamp in Year 2, and by the looks of it, this young man is about to deliver in a major way.

He’s the key to the future, along with the new draft picks. Giannis was #1 in the league in transition, but the Bucks were bottom 3 as a team, and they need to shift the focus of the team to defense and running (at least while these guys develop a better 3 point shot).
This trend toward youth also makes guys like Matthews expendable and might mean they only signed Crowder to act as a sort of coach/mentor to them and perhaps to be added as trade value at the deadline.
Getting Beasey and with AJ Green improving also makes Pat C expendable. Another fan site was looking for trade suggestions and the fan base didn’t reply except to argue with the author.
I would suggest that they trade Pat and Bobby for Kira Lewis and Jonas Valanciunas.
We get a better back up for Brook and possibly his future replacement and a real PG to back up Jrue and act as stop gap if Jrue retires.
And hope all this young talent pans out. They need it with this cap situation.
