Some Milwaukee Bucks fans are hurt that Khris Middleton ended up with the worst team in the league. He should be somewhere competitive.

Is there a chance for him to get out of that hole that is the Washington Wizards?

An NBA insiders says his new team is done moving for now. They need someone who will play Albus Dumbledore to the young Wizards.

โ€œThe chances of Middleton being rerouted to another team before Thursdayโ€™s deadline are almost zero, a league source told The Athletic. The Wizards expect that Middleton, an Olympic gold medalist and a crucial contributor to the Milwaukee Bucksโ€™ 2020-21 NBA title, will become the model example for the young players to emulate,โ€ the Athleticโ€™s Josh Robbins wrote.

The reporter added that the former Milwaukee Bucks star will be the teamโ€™s leader inside the locker room even if Washingtonโ€™s latest activities suggest that they are serious about rebuilding through young players and draft picks.

โ€œItโ€™s going to be a tough transition for Middleton to go from title contention in Milwaukee to lottery contention in Washington, but heโ€™s so highly regarded throughout the industry that he seems highly likely to accept that challenge. To his credit, thatโ€™s how heโ€™s built.โ€

    Khris Middletonโ€™s new teammates

Wizards recently recorded a three-game winning streak. Before that, they went without a win in 16 tries.

The teamโ€™s core is filled with young players who are being given chances to prove themselves.

Middletonโ€™s mentorship as a small forward will be crucial for the development of the likes of Bilal Coulibaly who was selected seventh overall in the 2023 draft and 2024 second overall draft pick Alex Sarr.

Kyshawn George is another young player Wizards are hoping to develop into a regular rotation guy.

Does Middleton have a mentorship experience?

    AJ Johnson, Milwaukee Bucks
Milwaukee guard AJ Johnson (77) drives forward past Oklahoma City forward Adam Flagler (14) and Oklahoma City forward Dillon Jones (3) in the fourth quarter during an NBA game between Oklahoma City and Milwaukee at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City on Monday, Feb. 3, 2025.

The thing with him is that never got that role with the Milwaukee Bucks since his former team is not really good in developing young players.

They had hopes on Marjon Beauchamp who now recently got traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. AJ Johnson, who was part of the package that sent him to the capital, was picked 23rd overall but he spent his time mostly with the Wisconsin Herd.
