The Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo will be meeting later this week to talk about the future. If Antetokounmpo does not come back for the 2025-2026 season with Milwaukee, it is going to be interesting to see where he lands.

One team that will be in the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes will be the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs will not be the only Western Conference team who is going to make a push for him. San Antonio will have the second overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Some people discuss whether or not the Spurs will keep the second overall pick or if they are going to make a major trade with that draft selection.
NBA Executive Thinks That the San Antonio Spurs Would Be Instant Title Contenders If They Traded For Giannis Antetokounmpo

Sam Vecenie of The Athletic talked about whether or not the Spurs are going to keep the number two overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. If they were to keep the second overall pick, the Spurs would most likely select Dylan Harper from the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Vecenie said,
“Another option should be on the table, though — if it presents itself. It should come as no surprise that the main name league sources bring up as a potential Spurs trade target is Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. With Giannis’ wrecking-ball interior game and Wembanyama’s silky smooth perimeter chops both as a shooter and ballhandler, the two are seen as a natural pairing that could lead to immediate success.”
An Eastern Conference executive said about the Spurs potentially trading for Giannis in the offseason,
“If the Spurs paired Giannis and Wemby, they would be the favorite to win the title next year. They’d have two guys who might be top-five players in the league next year on the same team. Plus, they fit. They’d have a dominant defense that no one would be able to score against inside, and they’d have the ability to play five-out in an even more devastating way than the Bucks did with Brook Lopez if they surrounded Giannis and Wemby with the right wings.”
A duo of Antetokounmpo and Wembanyama would become the best duo in the NBA instantly and they also would have De’Aaron Fox on the roster. It would be interesting to see what kind of trade return San Antonio would give Milwaukee if Antetokounmpo was traded to San Antonio. They had a 34-48 record last season in the NBA, but there 2025-2026 NBA championship odds would skyrocket if they acquired Antetokounmpo via trade.
