The Wisconsin Badgers have signed all but one scholarship player today as the staff is pushing to fit a safety into the plans before the end of the day.
Early in the 2026 cycle, Wisconsin landed a commitment from Texas native Zachary Taylor who later flipped to TCU. Taylor was originally supposed to be the lone safety commitment in the class for Wisconsin and other targets received limited contact following his announcement. Since the flip occurred, Wisconsin has had a terrible time trying to land a new commitment at the position to fill the void.
With limited time left and the majority of the 2026 class signing today, the Badgers will need to work extremely quickly to secure a late-game addition at safety.
Can the Wisconsin Badgers Secure a 2026 Class Safety During Early National Signing Day?

Securing a commitment at safety has proven to be a difficult task for Wisconsin as the Badgers have extended over 35 offers at the position. Most recently, Wisconsin missed out on a crop of safeties who had all had relatively close ties to the program.
Former Cincinnati commitment Brody Jones became a flip target for the Badgers, but ultimately Missouri won the race. Azel Banag, a former Harvard commitment, also became a potential flip target after receiving renewed FBS interests. Banag eventually settled on the Oregon Ducks over the Badgers and subsequently signed his letter of intent today.
Both Jordan Vann and Toray Davis were in play for Wisconsin in the past few weeks after taking visits to Madison. Vann committed to and signed with the Louisville Cardinals while Toray Davis did the same with the Texas Longhorns. The Badgers cannot win every recruiting battle, but the struggle to land a true safety has been real this cycle.

Currently as reported by Evan Flood of On3, Wisconsin is pursuing the potential flip of Kah’ni Watts who is a three-star Houston Cougars commitment. Not much is known about the connection between the two sides, but Flood noted the recruit is certainly someone to watch moving forward.
Aside from Watts, Wisconsin is running very thin on options as players continue to sign with programs by the minute. Three-star safety Chase Geter had been someone who the staff tried to circle back to, but with a signature on paper now with Syracuse the Badgers appear to have been a step slow.
Former targets Jowell Combay (Tennessee), Tony Forney (Pittsburgh), and Nick Reddish (Notre Dame) all signed today as well.
The connection between the two sides has not exactly been electric, but American Heritage (FL) safety Aldarius Johnson could become an option for Wisconsin. Johnson suffered an injury which led to plenty of programs backing away, but the safety still has enough promise and talent to potentially succeed at the collegiate level.
