MLB Trade Rumors: The St. Louis Cardinals are looking to sell this year, but with doing so are keeping in mind future success.  This had led them to the decision to retain superstar Nolan Arenado.  However pitchers such as Jack Flaherty, Jordan Montgomery and Jordan Hicks.  Of those three pitchers one of them has been linked to a few different ball clubs.

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery has been linked to the Baltimore Orioles and Arizona Diamondbacks (MLB Trade Rumors).

Per Jon Morosi of MLB Network both the Orioles and Diamondbacks have expressed interest in southpaw Jordan Montgomery.  The 30 year old was involved in a deal a year ago that sent him from New York to St. Louis.  He ended up being crucial for the Red Birds down the stretch as they went on to win the 2022 NL Central Division.

A year later the now 30 year old starting pitcher finds himself as an impending free agent.  His 2023 campaign has been quite good as he has a 3.42 ERA through 21 starts.  Limiting home runs has been a big part of his game and preventing a momentum swing like that in the playoffs is a great strength to have.

For either the Orioles and Diamondbacks they should not have to give up a ton of prospect capital in order to acquire Jordan Montgomery from the Cardinals.  One near the top 30 prospect or even inside the top 30 should be enough to get a deal done.
