MLB Trade Rumors: Washington Nationals top trade piece Jeimer Candelario has been linked to a few different teams. In the National League East the Miami Marlins, in desperate need of third base help, have been linked to him. Now rumors are indicating that an AL West contender is pursuing the highly coveted switch hitter.
Washington Nationals Jeimer Candelario has been linked to the Los Angeles Angels (MLB Trade Rumors).
The Los Angeles Angels, who are keeping Shohei Ohtani and going all-in this year, recently swung a major trade that landed them Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez. Now they are looking to improve their offense by targeting Jeimer Candelario. This was first reported by Jon Morosi of MLB Network.
Similar to Giolito and Lopez, Candelario is a rental player who will be a free agent at seasons end. This season the 29 year old has a 127 OPS+, 16 home runs, and 52 RBI. His production at the plate makes him a good middle of the order option for any contending team.
LA has already surrendered two pretty good prospects for rental pieces. It will be interesting to see if they are willing to sacrifice more pieces out of their farm system in order to bolster their offense for two more months. They have been playing well lately, are three games over .500, and the Wild Card spot is within reach.
