MLB Trade Rumors: The Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers are in a dog fight for sole possession of the National League Central division. Starting Monday, July 24 these two teams will meet up for their final regular season series of the year. Milwaukee already owns the season tie breaker, but these games are still very important.
With these two teams meeting for the final time in the regular season prior to the trade deadline passing, it is very possible that should they meet again in the post season that there are different key players involved. Reds GM Nick Krall appears ready to make a splash and recently credited the fans for providing financial flexibility.
Cincinnati Reds GM Nick Krall credits fans for providing financial flexibility (MLB Trade Rumors).
Nick Krall made these comments on MLB Network Radio. The way he talked about having financial flexibility also suggests that he may be ready to make a splash at this year’s trade deadline.
The fans have really come, and they’ve come to games. I was joking with one of our players and he said it is like an SEC football game out there some nights, which is a lot of fun. When you have 40,000 fans in the ballpark, you have a fun team, and they are all cheering for that team, we couldn’t ask for more. The fans have really helped with giving us financial flexibility over the course of this year.
The Reds have been rumored to be in on starting pitching at this year’s trade deadline. Time will tell if they elect to make a splashy move or not, but Nick Krall has made it clear that the fans have provided him with additional financial flexibility to do so.
