MLB Trade Rumors: The Chicago White Sox have been involved in trade rumors for quite some time. They have a lot of intriguing players for contending teams to consider going after. This includes quite a few pitchers both in the starting rotation and the bullpen.
Per Bob Nightengale the White Sox have continued to say “no” to trading away one of their starting pitching assets. That player is Dylan Cease, who is under team control through the 2025 season.
Chicago White Sox reportedly not interested in parting ways with starting pitcher Dylan Cease (MLB Trade Rumors).
A season ago Dylan Cease finished as the runner in the Cy Young award voting when he spotted a 2.20 ERA over 184 innings pitched. He finished with an 11.1 K:9 ratio and struck out 227 batters. This year his ERA is at 4.04 through 21 starts.
If the White Sox were to trade Dylan Cease, they would get a massive package of players in return. Again per Bob Nightengale this is not going to happen because Chicago is not interested in a massive rebuild and they still hope to contend next year.
This news really is not that surprising. It was a long shot all along for the White Sox to be willing to part ways with an excellent pitcher who has multiple years of team control left. A more likely scenario is that one or all of Tim Anderson, Lance Lynn, and Lucas Giolito get traded within the next week.
