MLB News: Wander Franco, shortstop for the Tampa Bay Rays, is currently being investigated for alleged relationships with underage girls. Major League Baseball has now issued a statement on the situation in which he is being placed on administrative leave per an agreement between MLB and MLBPA (Major League Baseball Players Association).

Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco placed on administrative leave (MLB News).
The following statement was issued today by Major League Baseball:
“Per an agreement between MLB and MLB PA, Wander Franco has been placed on administrative leave until further notice as MLB continues it’s ongoing investigation. The administrative leave, effective immediately, is not disciplinary under the Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy. We will comment further at the appropriate time.
Jeff Passan, who also reported on MLB’s statement, pointed out that Wander Franco is being placed on administrative leave and it is not disciplinary. During this time Wander Franco will continue to be paid and accrue service. He also pointed out that MLB and the Dominican Republic are working on the investigation.
It is unclear where MLB and the Dominican Republic are in their investigation or what evidence they have found. Hopefully they are able to sort everything out and come to a truthful conclusion regarding this situation.
