MLB News: The Toronto Blue Jays will be honoring the retirement of a former six time All-Star who played a pivotal key in the franchise’s history. This contract will be signed on Friday, August 11 in which a ceremony will be streamed online and a ceremony at the ballpark will take place on Saturday in order to induct him into the Level of Excellence at the Rogers Centre.

Toronto Blue Jays legend Jose Bautista will sign a one day contract to retire (MLB News).
Jose Bautista, currently 42 years old, played 15 seasons in the big leagues from 2004-2018. He was with the Blue Jays for 10 seasons and was the league’s best power hitter during that stretch. This included a career best 54 home run year and four seasons of accumulating more than 100 runs batted in.
A few moments that are remembered by fans around the league is his tie-breaking three run home run in the 2015 American League Divisional Series against the Texas Rangers in which following the blast he had an epic bat flip. A year later he was involved in an iconic fight with Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor.
This weekend should be very special to both Jose Bautista and Blue Jays fans. Toronto’s president and CEO Mark Shapiro had the following to say regarding the upcoming events.
“There aren’t many names as synonymous with Blue Jays baseball as José Bautista, and it is our great honor that he will officially retire in a Blue Jays jersey. On behalf of a generation of Blue Jays fans that had the privilege of watching his clutch moments on the field and inspiring work ethic – thank you, José, for a mesmerizing decade representing the Toronto Blue Jays.”
