MLB News: The Seattle Mariners have been playing some good baseball as of late and are inching closer to a post season spot. At 58-52 they are two and a half games back from the Wild Card. A big reason for their recent success is due to Eugenio Suarez going on a tear at the plate in which he has collected at least one RBI in 10 consecutive games.
Seattle Mariners slugger Eugenio Suarez has set a franchise record with 10 consecutive games with at least one RBI (MLB News).
During the eighth inning on Friday night Eugenio Suarez hit an RBI single to score Julio Rodriguez. This base knock resulted in a franchise record as he recorded his 10th consecutive game with an RBI. The previous record holder was nine consecutive games and was previously set by Edgar Martinez in 1995.
During this stretch of games, that started on July 25, Eugenio Suarez collected 13 total RBI. He is slashing .310/.333/.500 over these 10 games that does include two doubles and two home runs. His season RBI total is now up to 71, which is tied for 12th most in the league.
The Mariners have also gone 8-2 over their last 10 games and as noted above are inching closer to a spot in the post season. Eugenio Suarez will play a big part in how their season shakes out, so Seattle fans have to remain hopeful that he will continue to keep producing at the plate.
