MLB News: The NL Central has been a tightly contested division all season long. At times the division has not looked as strong as the NL East or NL West, but currently the 65-54 Milwaukee Brewers have the third best record in the league.
Trailing the Brewers in the division are the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds. Chicago got hot in July and bought at the trade deadline whereas Cincinnati did not make any major moves and has struggled over the past two weeks.
Over the weekend Milwaukee swept the Chicago White Sox whereas both the Cubs and Reds took two out of three games against the Toronto Blue Jays and Pittsburgh Pirates. This has opened up a 3.5 game lead for the Brewers, which is the largest of any NL Central leader this season.
The Milwaukee Brewers have the largest lead in the NL Central this season as they have a 3.5 game advantage over the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds (MLB News).

Currently the Cubs have a 61-57 record and the Reds 62-58. Milwaukee owns the season tie breaker over the Reds and has six more match ups left against the Cubs. They will play at the end of August and then the final regular season series of the year.
This should make for an exciting finish in the NL Central divisional race. Whichever teams do not win the division should have a shot at a Wild Card playoff berth as both the Reds and Cubs are currently a half game out.
