Per Mark Feinsand the deal includes two Rockies offensive players C.J. Cron and Randal Grichuk. Both are impending free agents upon seasons end. In exchange the Angels have given up their eighth ranked pitching prospect Jake Madden and 28th ranked pitching prospect Mason Albright.
The Colorado Rockies and Los Angeles Angels agreed on a trade that sent C.J. Cron and Randal Grichuk to LA (MLB News).
Joining the Angels are two big offensive threats. Cron is a first baseman who historically has 30 home runs and 100 RBI potential. Grichuk is an outfielder who is having a breakout season that is headlined by a .312 batting average and .502 slugging percentage. Both should provide a big boost to LA’s offense.
This trade is another signal from the Los Angeles Angels to Shohei Ohtani that they are going all-in this year. Shohei Ohtani is an impending free agent as well and the once in a generation talent will sign a massive deal during the offseason.
LA fans are hoping that all of these moves will not only be enough to convince Ohtani to stay but also to make the post season this year.
