MLB News: Christopher Morel of the Chicago Cubs accomplished a rare single season home run feat during a recent game against the Cincinnati Reds. In the third inning he launched his 17th home run of the season while serving as the designated hitter and batting second in the lineup. With this long ball he became just the fourth player ever to hit a home run from every lineup spot in a single season.
Christopher Morel became the fourth player ever to hit a home run from every lineup spot in a single season (MLB News).
According to Jeremy Frank and Joe Zobel Christopher Morel is the first player to hit a home run from every lineup spot in a single season since 2019. Morel has been an extremely streaky hitter, which explains why he has been all over the batting lineup. However when he is hot the home runs come in bunches.
The other three players to accomplish this are Brian Goodwin of the Los Angeles Angels in 2019, Ian Happ for the Chicago Cubs in 2017, and Steve Finely of the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2003. Given that only four players in total have ever accomplished this feat, it is quite rare and a pretty cool accomplishment.
