San Antonio Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson praised his team’s offensive execution following Thursday’s 119-101 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

“I thought our offense was really clean and sharp tonight just in terms of execution, spacing, and most importantly, it felt like our best passing game…It was a sharp passing game where the basketball had energy was finding people early, and that allowed the person catching the ball some really good opportunities and decisions,” remarked the Spurs head coach during his postgame press conference.

Johnson credited the team’s three-point shooting as a major factor in the win, noting that they connected on more threes than in any of their previous 12 games.

“We got some really good shots and we knocked them down tonight,” Johnson added.

Mitch Johnson also spoke about Victor Wembanyama’s first-quarter knee scare after colliding with Giannis Antetokounmpo. “He was out there with us… I think it was just getting checked out, making sure there was nothing else, but obviously he played and he was fine,” he continued.

San Antonio overpowered the Bucks across the board, connecting on 51 percent of their shots, 43 percent from three, and converting 23 of 27 free throws. Victor Wembanyama led the way with 22 points and 10 rebounds, Stephon Castle contributed 19 points and 10 assists, and Jabari Champagnie added a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards.

The Spurs extended their lead to 39 points early in the fourth quarter, improving to 28-13 and tying for third in the Western Conference. The Bucks fell to 17-24, 11th in the East.

San Antonio returns home to face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday, while the Milwaukee Bucks travel to Atlanta on Monday.
