The Milwaukee Bucks were a big disappointment in the early goings of the 2024-25 NBA regular season. It was hard for Bucks fans to see the team with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard struggle to win games, as Milwaukee went just 2-8 in the team’s first 10 games.
But things have apparently changed, and the Bucks are winning again — and not just winning, but going on a big undefeated streak. In fact, the Bucks are 5-0 in their last five outings, a stretch that saw them take down the likes of the Houston Rockets and most recently, the Miami Heat.
ESPN has the Milwaukee Bucks shooting up the power rankings
Fans and experts alike have surely noticed the Bucks’ surge. The “Worldwide Leader in Sports” has even been promoted to the 16th spot of ESPN’s latest NBA power rankings — a nice move-up from being No. 21 in the previous rankings.
Don’t overreact. After a disastrous start to the season, the Bucks have started to right the ship a bit. They’ve won six of their past seven games entering Tuesday to climb back into the No. 6 slot in the Eastern Conference, right back in the mix for a playoff spot despite a 2-8 start.
Since the beginning of November, the Bucks rank in the top 10 in defensive efficiency, and Giannis Antetokounmpo is playing like an MVP averaging a career-high 32.4 points while shooting 61% from the field. Their win streak came during a soft spot in the schedule, so let’s see if they can do it against tougher competition before declaring them all the way back.
The Bucks have a great chance of extending their streak to six games, as they will next be facing the worst team in the NBA at the moment based on team records, with the 2-15 Washington Wizards coming to Cream City this coming Saturday.
