The Milwaukee Milkmen enter the 2021 season as defending champs, after winning the American Association Championship.

    First Inning

It was an easy top of the first for the Milkmen as pitcher Matt Solter struck out two and forced a ground out in between them.  During the bottom of the first, infielder Logan Trowbridge got on base off a single to right field.  After stealing second, Trowbridge was left on base as the inning ended on back-to-back strike outs.

    Second Inning

The top of the second was three up-three down, as all three Goldeyes’ batters grounded out.  Unfortunately for the Milkmen, they went three up-three down as well.

    Third Inning

The Goldeyes got their first hit of the game as infielder Milton Ramos singled on a hit to left field.  Ramos was left on base as the next two batters struck out and flew out respectively.  In the bottom of the inning, Milkmen Infielder Aaron Hill singled, but after getting caught stealing and a ground out, the inning ended.

    Fourth Inning

Finally a break in the score.  Unfortunately the score came for the Goldeyes.  Infielder Raul Navarro scored after outfielder Logan Hill singled to the outfield.  That would be the only score for them as the Milkmen ended it with a strikeout.  For the Milkmen, outfielder Tony Rosselli got the lone hit of the inning as the Milkmen remain scoreless.

    1-0 Goldeyes

    Fifth Inning

The Goldeyes got another hit in the game, but three ground outs ended the inning without giving up any runs.  The Milkmen get their fourth hit of the game on a single by Christian Correra.  The inning will end without any runs by the Milkmen.

    Sixth Inning

Goldeyes’ Max Murphy got his second hit of the game, this one going long on a two-run blast to left field.  Winnipeg took a 3-0 lead over the Milkmen.  The Milkmen were unable to score and the inning ended.

    3-0 Goldeyes

    Seventh Inning

After giving up a double to start the inning, Milkmen pitcher Matt Solter forced three ground outs to end the inning.  The Goldeyes brought in their relief pitcher, Cory Thompson.  Milkmen outfielder Tony Rosselli got his second hit.  After getting caught stealing and a couple other strike outs, the inning ended.

    Eighth Inning

A fly out and two ground outs closed the top of the eighth quickly for Milkmen relief pitcher Ryan Dunne.  The Milkmen came up to bat only to ground out three straight times to end the inning.

    Ninth Inning

After two ground outs and a strike out by the Goldeyes, the Milkmen head to the bottom of the ninth with a chance to win the game.  Pitcher Dan Kubiak came in for the Goldeyes to close the game out.  Milkmen outfielder Brett Vertigan reached second after a single and error by the Goldeyes.  Logan Trowbridge brought him home after a single and Adam Brett Walker moved Trowbridge to second on another single.  Tony Rosseli hit into a double play to leave one out remaining.  Reliever Ken Frosch entered the game for the Goldeyes and struck out infielder David Washington to end the game.

    Conclusion

The Milwaukee Milkmen lost game one to the Winnipeg Goldeyes 3-1.  They fall to 4-3 as they prepare for game two of three tomorrow. Matt Solter gets the loss for the Milkmen and is 0-1 on the year.
