The Milwaukee Bucks are trying to keep their options open ahead of the 2025 NBA trade deadline. They have a 24-17 record and are the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference.
Another team that will be looking to make some moves ahead of the trade deadline is the Sacramento Kings in the Western Conference. Sacramento has played better over the last couple of weeks. They are currently the eighth seed in the Western Conference with a 22-20 record.
Brewhoop.com Writer Jack Trehearne Creates Mock Trade That Would Sacramento Kings Trey Lyles To the Milwaukee Bucks
Kings forward/center Trey Lyles could very well be on the move ahead of the 2025 NBA trade deadline. Brewhoop.com writer Jack Trehearne created a mock trade that would send Trey Lyles to the Milwaukee Bucks along with a second-round pick in 2026, and a second-round pick in 2027 for Bobby Portis Jr.
Trehearne said about this trade:
“Milwaukee could acquire Trey in a few different ways. They could offer assets—such as their own ‘31 second—and complete the deal using Pat Connaughton’s salary. But for a Kings team that wants to win now, they might be more interested in a guy like Bobby Portis, who offers them something different than what they get from their current backup centre, Alex Len. Portis could space the floor on second units, opening the paint for downhill drivers. He also offers a true post-up presence who is a real threat to score in a variety of ways, whether that be a mid-range jumper or his trusty right hook.”
Lyles this season with the Sacramento Kings has played in 32 games. He is averaging 6.8 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 1.0 APG, 0.5 BPG, and 0.6 SPG this season. Trey Lyles is also shooting 39.2% from the field.
Bobby Portis Jr. Stats
Bobby Portis Jr. this season with the Milwaukee Bucks is averaging 13.3 PPG, 7.9 RPG, 2.0 APG, 0.5 BPG, and 0.7 SPG. He has played in 40 games this season and has also shot 46.5% from the field this season. The good news with this trade is that the Bucks would be getting two second-round picks back. Trey Lyles is also younger than Portis Jr. is.
Bobby Portis Jr. has been rumored in different trade talks last offseason. He was never dealt and trading him away for Lyles and two draft picks would be an intriguing move for this franchise. General manager Jon Horst would be trading away a player who has been up and down this season.
