The Milwaukee Bucks have made a minor deal, with the signing of big man Ibou Badji, who formerly played for the Portland Trail Blazers.
Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported the transaction that adds length and size to the Bucks’ frontcourt, though, it is likely not a regular deal.
“The Milwaukee Bucks have agreed to a deal with Ibou Badji, league sources told @hoopshype. Badji appeared in 22 games for the Portland Trail Blazers last season.”
Milwaukee Bucks ink former Portland Trail Blazers center
Badji signed a two-way deal with the Blazers in 2023 and saw action for 22 games for Portland. In those games, the 7-foot-1 Badji put up averages of 1.5 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks in 10.3 minutes per game. He shot 63.6 percent from the field.
The Senegalese center will be turning just 22 years old in October, so there is plenty of room to grow for Badji, who will have the chance to impress the Bucks in training camp.
Although Scotto didn’t note the exact nature of his deal with the Bucks, it is very much likely an Exhibit 10 deal. That means he stands to earn $77.5K if Milwaukee decides to release him and he sticks with Milwaukee’s G League affiliate for at least 60 days.
The Bucks’ frontcourt remains solid with Giannis Antetkounmpo handling the power forward slot and Brook Lopez at the five. Milwaukee also has the likes of Bobby Portis and Anzejs Pasecniks, who was signed on a two-way deal earlier in the offseason.
