The Milwaukee Bucks beefed up their frontcourt depth by acquiring Jericho Sims (along with Kyle Kuzma) as part of their three-team deal with the Washington Wizards and the New York Knicks.

Doc Rivers expressed his excitement about trading for Sims, and general manager Jon Horst shares the same sentiment as his head coach while giving Marquette Golden Eagles head coach Shaka Smart a shoutout for his work with the high-flying center when they were still at Texas.
“I’m excited about him because you’re right, to me, it’s been a long time. I don’t recall us having a fourth big with his profile,” Horst said via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “He gives us a real lob threat in addition to Giannis. He loves the offensive rebound just naturally. He’s very active around the glass, In transition –again, we want to play in transition – he’s one of the guys that can trail transition and he cleans up a lot of stuff that way.”

“He’s been well coached from Shaka Smart and Thibs (Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau). He’s been part of contributing to a really good team in New York in a role that feels a lot like what ours is. It may or may not be in every night role, but it’s kind of based on matchups, it’s based on need. If guys get injured or guys are out, he’s a guy that can step in and you feel confident with him playing,” he concluded.

Head coach Doc Rivers mostly played small, as Bobby Portis and Brook Lopez only played 26 and 25 minutes, respectively. Kyle Kuzma and Taurean Prince played 34 and 32 minutes as a result.
Sims will likely get his chance in the upcoming days since Giannis Antetokounmpo is ruled out until the NBA All-Star break due to a calf injury. He might debut against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.
