There has not been much for Milwaukee Bucks fans to be excited about this season. At 21-30, the team has performed well below expectations this season. Even when Giannis Antetokounmpo has been healthy, the team has not consistently played together, having been plagued by poor communication and abysmal effort on both sides of the floor.
However, one of the few bright spots on the team has been the emergence of guard Ryan Rollins. At one time a two-way contract player for the Bucks, Rollins is now averaging 16.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game while shooting 46/41/76 from the floor.
Recently, general manager Jon Horst credited the team’s scouting department for finding Rollins and predicted that he has a very bright future in Milwaukee.

During a recent appearance on a Bucks radio show, Horst had the following to say about how the team found Rollins and what is future will be like in Milwaukee:
“Ryan is someone that we identified, our scouting group led by Ryan Hoover and Peter Herman and our analytics group led by TJ Barra, we identified Ryan as a player who could pop in our system. A little bit of an undervalued talent in our league… and he’s taken a huge jump this year and i think there’s no reason to expect that Ryan won’t take another huge jump next year.
“Two way player which is important in this league. 6’4 frame with almost a 7 foot wingspan which is incredible length. Athletic, very impactful defender, can score at all three levels, and really growing as a playmaker and point guard in our system.”
As one can see, Horst says he expects Rollins to take another huge jump in the 2026-27 NBA season as well. Given his level of production this year, and a clear candidate for the NBA’s Most Improved Player of the Year Award, this would put Rollins at the level of NBA All-Star.
If the Bucks are able to retain Giannis, and Cam Thomas can return to his previous 20 points per game form after Milwaukee claimed him off waivers, the foundation will certainly be there for a much improved and exciting year next season.
