Former Milwaukee Bucks big man Robin Lopez is still a free agent. Lopez, who was among the participants in Goran Dragic’s farewell game in Slovenia, shared that Europe can be an option for him amid his current status.
“I’d absolutely consider it; I know how passionate the fans are and how high the level of basketball is,” Lopez said when asked if the door is open for him to consider continuing his basketball career in Europe.
That’s a different tone in contrast to what another former Bucks big man, Danilo Gallinari said. Gallinari recently said that he’s not yet at the point where he’d consider playing in Italy, as he’s still hoping to sign another contract with an NBA team.
Robin Lopez with the Bucks
Lopez had two shot stings with the Bucks. He first played for Milwaukee during the 2019-20 NBA season afte signing a two-year deal worth $9.77 million. However, he did not pick up his option with the team for the 2020-21 NBA campaign, signing instead with the Washington Wizards in the summer of 2020.
After playing for the Wizards, the Orlando Magic, and the Cleveland Cavaliers, Lopez found his way back to Milwaukee in 2023, inking a one-year, $3.2 million contract. The Bucks traded Lopez to the Sacramento Kings last February. He never got to see action with the Kings, as he got waived by Sacramento a day after the trade.
In parts of two seasons with the Bucks, Lopez averaged 4.6 points and 2.0 rebounds through 82 games, including seven starts.
