The Milwaukee Bucks have started their preparation for the 2024-25 NBA season, and they are getting some help on that end from one of the greatest point guards ever. Former Boston Celtics star point guard and two-time NBA champion Rajon Rondo is serving as a guest coach for the Bucks in their training camp.
In a social media post on X (formerly Twitter) by the Bucks, Rondo is seen on the court seemingly giving instructions to the team with Milwaukee guard Damian Lillard in the background.

Rondo has some connection with the Bucks. For one, there’s head coach Doc Rivers, who called the shots for Rondo and the Celtics during Boston’s title run in 2008. Now retired from playing basketball professionally, Rondo could also be looking to make a career in coaching, an endeavor that appears to be a perfect fit for one of the most intelligent players to ever play in the NBA.
Fans online even want the Milwaukee Bucks to hire Rondo to be part of the team’s coaching staff
Here are some of the reactions from fans to Rondo’s offseason gig with the Bucks:
“Keep him on the staff full time. Make that call admin”
“One one of the best on-court minds of all time. Hope he can stay on permanently!!”
“Bucks please sign him officially he would be such a valuable mind to developing our chemistry and younger players”
“Make him an assistant coach for sure. One of the best minds in NBA History”
“Make him assistant immediately”
“If he wasn’t going to go with my lakers it’s only right he makes Wisconsin get better. Take care of him bucks. You have an amazing future coach in your hands”
During his 16-year career in the league, Rondo averaged 9.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 7.9 assists through 957 games.
