The Milwaukee Bucks are heading into a sooner-than-expected off-season. After their series-opening loss to the Miami Heat, the Bucks have taken a new direction with their franchise. The Bucks moved on from their head coach Mike Budenholzer, to start, and hired Adrian Griffin to replace him. The next set of business? Figure out the roster situation, and from the sounds of it the Milwaukee Bucks have made their decision on Khris Middleton.
The Milwaukee Bucks Expect Khris Middleton To Sign Extension With The Team

Forward Khris Middleton is expected to sign a new contract with the Milwaukee Bucks this summer, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports. Middleton would become an unrestricted free agent this offseason if he declines his 2023-24 player option, which he is widely expected to do. The Houston Rockets are interested in the Charleston native, but it appears they won’t have a chance to get him.
“While Bucks guard Khris Middleton has been mentioned by league personnel as a possible target in free agency, Middleton’s inclusion during meetings with Milwaukee’s final candidates to replace former head coach Mike Budenholzer strongly signaled a mutual interest in keeping the All-Star guard next to Giannis Antetokounmpo,” Fischer wrote.
Fischer went on to write:
While Bucks guard Khris Middleton has been mentioned by league personnel as a possible target for Houston in free agency, Middleton’s inclusion during meetings with Milwaukee’s final candidates to replace former head coach Mike Budenholzer strongly signaled a mutual interest in keeping the All-Star guard next to Giannis Antetokounmpo. And there is a growing sense among league executives that Middleton will return to the Bucks on a long-term agreement. Another key Milwaukee starter, however, sharp-shooting center Brook Lopez, is a veteran free agent on Houston’s radar, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
It needs to be said yet again that the Milwaukee Bucks have NEVER lost a playoff series when Khris Middleton, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Jrue Holiday are all healthy and on the floor together. This most recent post-season, the Bucks were without Giannis for multiple games against the Miami Heat. It was clear he was also limited when he came back on the floor for games four and five. Bringing Middleton back long-term will be big for the cohesiveness of the core unit in Milwaukee.
