The Milwaukee Bucks are now 2-1 in the Patrick Beverley era. On Tuesday, they lost their first game since trading for the feisty guard in what turned out to be a highly disappointing loss against the Miami Heat, 123-97.
For his part, Beverley hasn’t fully acclimatized to his new team just yet. In fact, the 35-year-old recently revealed that he literally had no time to practice when he made his Bucks debut just days after he was traded to Milwaukee.
Patrick Beverley on Learning Tendencies of Milwaukee Bucks Teammates
On a recent episode of his podcast, The Pat Bev Pod, Beverley shared how difficult it was for him to play his first game for the Bucks without being able to practice with the squad first. The 6-foot-2 combo guard literally had to learn his teammate’s tendencies on the fly:
“I didn’t even have time to practice with the team,” he said. “I’m literally just show up at the game, like, ‘What’s up guys?’ … I got to know guys, quick. I don’t have time to practice. I ain’t been around that long so I gotta know guys’ games in and out.”

To be fair, Beverley played relatively well in his Bucks debut. He logged six points, one rebound, four assists, and two triples in 12 minutes off the bench. It was far from a mind-blowing debut for the vet, but it just speaks volumes of how well he is able to make the necessary adjustments in such a short amount of time.
There’s nowhere to go but up for Pat Bev moving forward.
