After coming over from the Philadelphia 76ers via a trade, Patrick Beverley has only one goal to accomplish with the Milwaukee Bucks. And with all that he has gone through in his 12-year career in the NBA, the guard’s objective will surely fire fans up.
Just recently, the Bucks acquired Beverley from Philadelphia for Cameron Payned and a 2027 second-round pick. In doing so, Milwaukee is reinforcing its defense, an area head coach Doc Rivers described as awful during their game against the Portland Trail Blazers a couple of weeks ago.
Beverley, in particular, has averaged 6.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in the 47 games he has played for the Sixers. While there isn’t much to expect from his offense, his career 1.2 defensive box plus/minus rating is what Milwaukee sorely needs, especially on the perimeter.
With Rivers back as his head coach, there’s a lot to look forward to in Beverley’s stint in Milwaukee. Add the All-Star duo of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard to the mix, and making a deep playoff run is certainly doable.
Patrick Beverley’s Championship Goal With the Milwaukee Bucks Is Everything The Fans Are Hoping For
Speaking to the media after Milwaukee’s recent win against the Charlotte Hornets, Beverley shares a goal that will have Bucks fans hyped up. In an article written by Eric Nehm for The Athletic:
“It’s the only thing for me, the only thing left for me,” Beverley said of what it means to him to chase a championship in Milwaukee.
“Obviously, when it comes to IQ and knowing the game, I know it in and out, better than a lot of coaches. But what would seal it for me is a championship. I’ve earned a ton of money in this league. I’ve played with a ton of players, a ton of superstars. And right there, come up short. Injury here, come up short; 3-1 lead, come up short. To end this legacy, it’s a championship, the only thing.”
Beverley’s drive can clearly be seen in the Bucks’ win over Charlotte, a game where the point guard posted six points, one rebound, and four assists in 11 minutes from the bench.
Now that Beverley is part of the team, there is a renewed hope that the front office has given the Bucks’ defense a boost. With just a couple of months remaining before the regular season ends, there’s still hope Milwaukee can maintain its record going into the playoffs.
