Patrick Beverley courted controversy when she asked ESPN producer to leave a postgame press scrum after learning she hasn’t subscribed to the Milwaukee Bucks star’s podcast. More than a month later, the veteran guard aired his side and explained what happened from his perspective.
Beverley entered the NBA during the 2012-13 season as a backup point guard for the Houston Rockets after playing three years overseas in Greece and Russia. Since then, the controversial star ha played for various teams in the league, such as the Los Angeles Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, and Philadelphia 76ers.

Before the trade deadline, the Bucks acquired Beverley from Philadelphia in a move to improve the team’s defense. Playing under head coach Doc Rivers again, Milwaukee started its bid to make a deep run in the playoffs and return to the NBA Finals this year.
Unfortunately, the Bucks failed in their playoff attempt when the Indiana Pacers eliminated them in the first round. In the final game of that series, Beverley threw a ball at a fan in the stands after a verbal exchange occurred between the two.

Along with that ball-throwing incident, another tense moment came from that same game against the Pacers. During a postgame scrum, Beverley asked ESPN producer Malinda Adams to leave after learning she wasn’t subscribed to his podcast. Since then, the controversial guard has apologized to her and took responsibility for his actions.
Over a month later, Beverley recounted his side. In a short clip shared by Gilbert Arenas’ podcast account on X:

As it stands, Beverley just wanted to protect his narrative against media companies making content out of him and other controversial players, such as Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green. Even if that’s the case, the veteran guard still owned up to that moment and took responsibility for it.

Beverley’s contract with the Bucks just ended this season. It remains to be seen whether the franchise will sign him up again or he’ll play for another team when the upcoming campaign starts later this year.
