Milwaukee Bucks’ Patrick Beverley Reveals Major Difference Between NBA and European Coaches

Before Milwaukee Bucks guard Patrick Beverley kicked off his NBA career back in 2012, he actually first played professionally in Europe first. During his time in the Greek and Russian pro leagues, the 6-foot-2 guard was able to appreciate the type of great coaching they have over there.

Now that he’s been in the NBA for more than a decade, Beverley is able to differentiate the way coaches in Europe are revered as opposed to how it is in the United States.

According to Pat Bev, the bottom line is that in Europe, the coaches are “appreciated more.” The 35-year-old also pointed out that in the NBA, the level of appreciation the coaches get revolves around how much money they make, which is a really sad fact if you think about it.

Beverley also makes a valid point about how European teams show much more loyalty to their coaches as opposed to their NBA counterparts. As Pat Bev said, the culture in the NBA is that coaches get “hired to get fired.”

The Bucks are a perfect example of the same, having had no less than three coaches over the last 12 months. Let’s just hope Doc Rivers is more of a long-term option for Milwaukee as opposed to a temporary fix.
